Yesterday was completed at midnight! I was too tired to write. When I lay down, I remembered the smell of home when I was a teenager!. At night in the summer we would have a fan blowing and the window open. The outside air carried the sound of crickets singing and the stillness of night. The fan circulated the lingering smell of dinner, my mothers nighttime lotion and the pillowcase that was stiff with starch.
When I came home from work, where I stay didn’t smell like home. For the time being, it is home. For me to feel peaceful, home needs have a familiar comforting smell. It is fun and motivating to look forward to my move. Last night, I burned a vanilla candle for a few minutes before I went to sleep. It changed the flavor of the smell to something I found familiar.
Buyers have a certain criteria when choosing a house. When I was showing a house to sell, I found that burning a candle helped calm a potential buyer. Then, they would spend more time considering the house. Again, a reflection of the Smell of Home.
This morning I can smell the new lumber! Dreaming a bit, my little house will have lots of wood, perhaps wood floors, cedar in the closet and a variety of wood cabinets. I am changing my menu this morning to just browse through a couple of magazines and decorate the little house in my mind!
Off to an Awesome morning!
